With its precision-waved friction plates applied in automatic transmissions and dual clutches, BorgWarner has introduced a major innovation in improved shift comfort and reduced fuel consumption.
In order to create sinusoidal waves, Häussermann has developed a special heat-treatment process which enables us to manufacture these core plates to outstanding levels of precision and quality. Despite a wave heights tolerance of just a few hundredths of a millimeter, the customer acknowledges our zero-defect quality with an annual “0 ppm Award”, every year.

PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY: MAXIMUM PRECISION, LOW COSTS
The challenge: To meet the client’s high expectations of diaphragm spring precision for the new dual-mass flywheel.
The solution: A heat-treatment procedure developed in-house that virtually excludes hardening deformation, enabling the narrowest of tolerances in spring height and load.

The development of a continuously variable transmission for a new John Deere tractor series. With Häussermann responsible for the entire diaphragm spring development – from the first draft, through to series production. We not only optimize the spring load curve, but take the entire design envelope into account, too. Because if you look that little bit further, it’s surprising the new options you find.
